Island vibes and serious eats
There are some restaurants in the city that have languished, untried, on my list for no good reason. Liholiho Yacht Club is not one of them - the place has been closed for over two years and recently reopened so I hopped on the first reservation I could get: prime time five o’clock on a Wednesday. The place was packed. If you’re looking for something to do before or after your res, Peacekeeper is a few blocks away and one of the coolest bars in the city.

Liholiho makes you feel cool just for being there - it doesn’t hurt that the food and drinks are out of this world. The menu effortlessly channels laid back Hawaiian vibes, the restaurant itself is beautifully designed, and the action in the small open kitchen is amazing to watch in between bites. Truly one of the better meals I’ve had in a long time and well worth the sticker shock.
Order This ⬇️
Duck liver mousse
Poppyseed steam bun (you can split but you’ll want one for yourself)
Red endive
Ukoy
Fried rice
Rendang curry
Banana cream tart
NOTE: you can reasonably skip the tuna poke and fried game hen, both tasty but not on the level of the other dishes we ordered. If I was going again I’d try the sole.
