Brunch: Big Groups

Whether you're a group of 4 or 10, you can't go wrong here

Equal parts pure and chaotic, a big group brunch is a surefire recipe for good times and a wicked hangover. If you’ve read Anthony Bourdain’s Kitchen Confidential you’ll know a lot can go wrong at brunch, so I did the hard work of finding a restaurant for you. If you’re celebrating and need to re-up on mini party hats I’ve also got you covered. This list may not come as a surprise if you’ve been in SF for a while but dig in anyway:

🍜 Chubby Noodle / chubbynoodle.com

Chubby Noodle is open for dinner, but the magic happens at brunch. It’s loud with bottomless food and drink and pretty simple rules: no double fisting, no chugging. Beyond that, anything goes. At $54 (excl. tax and tip) for 90 minutes, you can definitely get the bang for your buck that you need when you’ve got 10 people to feed and water.

Order This ⬇️ (this all happens automatically as part of brunch, don’t be afraid to ask for more)

  • Salt & pepper shrimp

  • Spicy wontons

  • Szechuan green beans

  • Fried rice

  • Spicy garlic noodles

  • Crispy cauliflower

  • Firecracker chicken

🌮 Don Pisto’s / donpistos.com

If you’re not in the mood for Asian-fusion or a nightclub atmosphere, Don Pisto’s (also owned by Chubby Noodle’s Pete Mrabe) has a reliably great bottomless. You can mix and match sangria, modelo, and mimosas for 90 mins with order of an entree. At $33 (excl. entree, tax and tip), it’s less of a deal than Chubby Noodle, but sea lo que sea.

Order This ⬇️

  • Breakfast burrito

  • Huevos rancheros

  • Tacos

  • Chips, salsa, guac for the table

NOTE: because everyone orders their own entree and requesting split checks at a group brunch is a dick move, whoever pays will need to crack out the spreadsheets to earn their reward points

🍳 620 Jones / 620-jones.com

Beware that this place is not bottomless, but the swanky outdoor vibes more than make up for it. It’s easy to crank through a few carafes of the mimosas, but the breakfast martini, espresso martini, and bloody mary also get high marks. When you’ve wrapped up here, Peacekeeper is just around the block and a great way to keep the good times rolling.

Order This ⬇️

  • Papas Bravas

  • French Toast

  • JFC Jones Fried Chicken (or sandwich)

  • Margherita Pizza

NOTE: thanks to Eloise for the recommendation 🙂
